Present: Anne Aldridge, Fran Allegri, Jo Bell, Linda Carl, Katrina Coble, Peter DeSaix, Rebecca Mabe.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  In the absence of Steve Weis, Rebecca reported that Hilda Durham and Scott Blackwood would do the audit the following week.

 

Communications:  Peter reported that the minutes, names of board members and information about UMA programs was on the web site.  A note will be added to the site stating that individuals who want handouts from the UMA update program with Bob Adler and Anson Dorance should contact Katrina Coble. In the future, presenters will be asked prior to presenting a program if their handouts can be put on the website.

 

Programs:  Katrina reported 24 participants attended the program on International Affairs.   Ned Brooks, 2001 Manager of the Year, will present the manager of the year award at the April meeting.

 

Morale and Recognition: Ann reported the name of the nominee for Manager of the Year.   The committee approved the nominee.

 

Elections:  The candidates are unopposed.  The elections will be carried out via e-mail.  Jo Bell will send out the ballot.  The ballot will include short biographies of each candidate.

 

UMA Development Fund:  Libby Evans has met with Andi Sobbe; Office of Development.   Results are unknown.  The Carolina First campaign lists several general categories for giving in Human Resources.   UMA needs to check if these existing funds might be co-opted/expanded to include donations for employee appreciation.

Long Term Employee Appreciation: Long-term employee appreciation demands more attention to finding out what employees would value.

 

Personnel Flexibility:  Rebecca reported the personnel flexibility survey has been sent to peer institutions.  Rebecca is meeting with Laurie  Charest to find out what can be gleaned from best practices already written up in literature.
