Subject: Death of Papa Date: Sun, 16 Feb 1997 09:45:36 -0500 (EST) From: Sally Greene To: "Greene, Sarah -- Sarah Greene" Momma (and of course, Russ), I meant for you to take the copy of the play with you, but I'm glad you didn't because yesterday I succeeded in getting a walk-in ticket to the matinee. Had a front row set. It was wonderful. Then last night I read it. They cut out a few details mostly of family genealogy. But it was definitely the same play. We were at a Valentine's cocktail party at Elizabeth Spencer's the night before where I met Millie Barringer, who is the director of Playmakers Theater and chair of the drama dept. I told her I was glad to hear about the play's good reception because the first report you and I heard wasn't so great! She was amused to "hear" that her opening night parties cost $25,000 apiece. She said the caterer will be very flattered. Off to church, more later. *********************************************************************** Sally Greene Visiting Scholar UNC-Chapel Hill "I often say that one must permit oneself, and that quite advisedly and deliberately, a certain margin of misstatement." --Benjamin Cardozo
