Present: Anne Aldridge, Francesca Allegri, Jo Bell, Linda Carl, Katrina Coble, Libby Evans, Phil Lyons, Rebecca Mabe, Peter De Saix, Steve Weiss

Correction and addition to July 18 minutes: In the last board meeting Phil Lyons suggested the UMA board adopt a theme for its activities for the coming year. The board agreed to focus programs on leadership and change at Carolina and the impact of that change on the University community in general and management in particular. Not all programs would necessarily conform to this theme.

Treasurer’s Report: Steve Weiss gave the treasurer’s report noting a stable financial picture (enclosed).

End of Year Committee Reports: Fran Allegri requested that board members who had not already done so turn in their 2000-2001 end-of-year reports.

Co-Chair for Employee Appreciation Day: Phil Lyons has agreed to be one of the chairs for Employee Appreciation Day. He will ask Marty Pomerantz to be his co-chair. Ann Aldridge has volunteered to be a member of the EAD committee. Marty will be offered a gratis half-year membership as an enticement to join and to take this responsibility.
