Subject: Paul buys Stock! Date: Thu, 25 Mar 1999 12:02:52 -0500 From: Sally Greene To: Sarah Greene It took some gentle nagging but Paul did buy 20 shares of Cisco this morning. Last week he sent his $2,000 check for this year's IRA to Fidelity, so we had to wait till that was done (I would have just driven it up to Durham if that office weren't closed). I knew he needed my "help" so I offered to help him yesterday morning. In principle he thought that was a good idea because he had heard they were about to make some kind of product announcement that day. But as it happened, he said he was too busy all day . . . and all afternoon . . . meanwhile Cisco rose 4 points by the end of the day, after the expected product announcement. This morning at home, before 9:00, he did get on line, got his PIN, and was about to do it, but neither of us thought it was probably very bright to put the order in before the market opened. (Actually, I might have done that, but I know how cautious he is; and anyway, I would have bought yesterday morning!) Given that there is bombing going on, he thought everything might take a dive. Of course, it didn't, and by 10:00 it had gone up some more, almost 3 points to $107, where it is still hovering. It's been as high as $117 lately, so I still think he'll be all right in the long run. I'll try to work on air reservations this afternoon. Did get your package mailed this a.m., without anything for Russ. Paul says we should just try something else--but what?
